What a divine blessing to share special time,
With these wonderful, darling, great grandsons of mine,
To walk beside them with our fingers entwined,
While we share conversations that are truly sublime.

Their huge eyes miss nothing along a park's path,
They excitedly marvel at turtles in their bath,
The experience so special, they quiver in awe,
And savor each impression they personally saw.
<><><>
Their innocence so sweet, yet inwardly knowing
That the connection between us is strong, ever growing,
Their smile so infectious, with no need for a cure,
And the love that we share, is one hundred percent pure.
<><><>
The bond between grandchild and grandparent is strong,
And it expands further onward when their children are born,
It is life's grand intention, and it is timeless in its course,
The same as my love for those holding my heart.
~ Sharing time with my grandchildren, and now great grandchildren,
is truly a God-given blessing that I never take for granted. Some
people never know the immense love one feels for their children,
let alone their grandchildren and then great grandchildren, and I
cannot express the sadness I feel for these people, especially those
whom, forever the reason, choose not to have children. They have no idea
what they are missing. The icing on the cake is having grandchildren,
who in time, have children of their own. This is how one's lifeline continues,
and in so many ways I feel is one's most important contribution to life itself.
I spent this morning with my eldest granddaughter, and her two charming little
boys, enjoying time in a local park. This was the inspiration for this poem. R.B. ~
